The demand for electricity in hot days and the increase in electricity prices make electricity bills "on top". Although solar power is considered a potential solution, in reality, this technology has not yet spread to the vast majority of Vietnamese households. In addition to the high initial deployment fee, the real efficiency of the solar power system is also one of the reasons why many people consider investing capital.
Differential climate affects solar power production
Through the advice of some suppliers, grid-tied solar power systems with a capacity of less than 5 kWp (kilowatt-peak) are receiving a lot of attention. With a price of about 20 million VND / 1 kWp, the 3 kWp system promises to save the family 400-500 kWh per month (equivalent to 800,000 VND - 1 million VND), while the 5 kWp system can achieve output from 600-800 kWh (equivalent to 1.2 million VND - 1.6 million VND). Thus, the solar power system will start to be profitable after 4-6 years.
However, the practical efficiency of a solar power system depends on many factors, including: location of the house, installation topography, obstacles and most importantly, climatic conditions. In the area below the 17th parallel (South Central Coast and back), solar radiation is not only high but also very stable, with a difference of 20% from the dry season to the rainy season. The average number of sunshine hours per year in the South is about 2000-2600 hours/year.
